Due to continued growth and investment in their cloud platform, they are seeking an experienced Azure Infrastructure Architect to play a pivotal role in defining infrastructure strategy, architecture standards, and cloud design best practices.

The Role

As an Azure Infrastructure Architect, you will be responsible for designing and governing cloud infrastructure architectures that support a portfolio of large-scale SaaS applications.

Working closely with Product Architects, Engineering teams, Development Leads, and Project Managers, you will ensure infrastructure designs meet the highest standards of security, scalability, resilience, observability, and operational excellence.

You will play a key role in shaping architectural standards, reusable design patterns, and cloud governance frameworks across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
Design secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective Azure infrastructure solutions.
Create and maintain Azure reference architectures and reusable design patterns.
Translate business and technical requirements into practical infrastructure designs.
Ensure infrastructure solutions align with architectural standards and strategic objectives.
Review and challenge design decisions to drive the best possible outcomes.
Technical Governance
Champion best practices across cloud architecture and infrastructure design.
Ensure security, resilience, monitoring, and observability are embedded within all solutions.
Promote standardisation and consistency across infrastructure deployments.
Support governance, compliance, and risk management requirements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with Product Architects, Technical Architects, Engineering teams, and Development Leads.
Provide technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.
Act as a key decision-maker and subject matter expert for infrastructure-related initiatives.
Support project teams in evaluating technology options and architectural approaches.
Cost & Performance Optimisation
Design for performance, scalability, availability, and operational efficiency.
Ensure solutions balance business requirements with long-term supportability.
Drive cloud cost optimisation and reporting capabilities.
Identify opportunities to improve reliability while reducing operational overhead.

About You
Essential Experience

We’re looking for someone with:

Deep expertise across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
Proven experience designing enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure architectures.
Strong understanding of:
Cloud Security
Identity & Access Management (IAM)
Networking
Database Technologies
Platform Resilience
Experience architecting complex distributed systems.
Strong understanding of cloud-native design principles.
Experience producing high-quality technical and architectural documentation.
Ability to balance technical excellence with commercial and operational considerations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Experience
SaaS or multi-tenant platform environments.
Enterprise cloud transformation programmes.
Azure governance and landing zone design.
Infrastructure as Code strategy and implementation.
FinOps and cloud cost optimisation practices.
Regulated, high-availability, or mission-critical environments.
