Colossus Associates is taking part in the Road to Commonwealth Challenge. We are getting active to help raise money for St. Basils by completing 10,318 miles before 28th July 2022, when the Commonwealth Games kicks off in our hometown, The City of Birmingham!
The 10,318 miles represent the distance between the Gold Coast of Australia, the location of the last Commonwealth games and this year’s games in Birmingham. We all agree that this a fantastic way to help build up the excitement for the Commonwealth Games in our city, by taking part in our own sporting challenge as a team.
How do we possibly cover 10,318 miles?? Well….as a company we will be getting active by completing exercise activities. These are uploaded to our Well Giving page and are put towards our total miles. There are over 60 sports or activities to choose from and all exercise counts! Even meditation!
For activities which cannot be measured by the distance, the number of minutes spent doing that activity convert into virtual “miles”.
The challenge is partnered with Well Giving which allows competitors to upload activity times and to track their progress.
Furthermore, the leaderboard helps to bring out the more competitive side of Colossus. As no one wants to be at the bottom of the leaderboard!
After a fantastic Christmas and great start to the New Year, its now time to focus on burning off the Christmas Calories and getting summer ready.
Plus, who wouldn’t enjoy some competitive fun against colleagues. What a better cause than to get active for Charity!
St. Basils is a charity which works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. St. Basils helps them find a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, and increase their opportunities.
They follow a list of principles: putting the young people first, everybody counts, strength and unity through diversity and forward thinking.
St. Basils houses almost 500 young people every single night, with your donations, you could help support a young person and transform their life.
To help put into perspective what your money can do, here are what different amounts of money can provide.
